See Chris Hemsworth jiggle around in his Thor fat-suit in footage from 'Avengers: Endgame' set (exclusive)
"Being able to do this new version of Thor, it's hugely liberating and fun," Chris Hemsworth says in never-seen-before footage from the set of Avengers: Endgame that will be featured on the film's Digital and Blu-ray releases (watch exclusively above).
“Huge” is an appropriate description.
The Australian actor packed on a fat-suit weighing approximately "60 or 70 pounds" (though other reports listed upward of 90 pounds) to play the God of Thunder, who spirals into a life of solitude, despair, alcoholism and obesity in the wake of The Snapture that eliminated half of the world's population (and half of the Avengers) at the end of 2018's Infinity War.
The prosthetics, especially the shirtless ones, were so cumbersome that directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con that Hemsworth hurt his back wearing the get-up, forcing delays on some of his action scenes.
The twist on Thor's typically ripped physique is especially amusing given Hemsworth's past comments to Yahoo Entertainment where he's bemoaned the fact that MCU directors are constantly making him shed his shirt in the films.
"It was the hottest I've ever been," Hemsworth says in the clip.
Clearly he doesn't mean that kind of "hot."
Avengers: Endgame will be available on digital July 30 and Blu-ray Aug. 13.
