Dodgers fans welcome baby on same day as World Series win
As Los Angeles erupted with cheers after the Dodgers recorded the final out of Game 5 to win the World Series on Wednesday, one California couple celebrated in near silence – for a very good reason.
Brooke Baxstresser and her husband had just welcomed a baby into the world.
A video the mom posted to TikTok shows the proud new dad cradling his sleeping newborn son, Brody, inside a hospital room as the end of the game played out on a television in the corner.
When Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler struck out Yankees outfielder Alex Verdugo to seal the victory, Dad had to contain his excitement.
“Nothing better than your son being born and DODGERS WINNING THE WORLD SERIES on the same day!!! Dad had all the silent scream – the BEST DAY EVER!” the video’s caption read.
The family says Brooke and her baby were in the process of being discharged on Thursday.
The Dodgers’ 2024 championship is the franchise’s 8th, dating back to its decades in Brooklyn. First baseman Freddie Freeman was named World Series MVP.
“So you named him Freddie Freeman right? – Congratulations,” one commenter joked.
“What a core memory!!! Congratulations to your family & our Dodgers!!!” shared another.
