The Bachelor's Bekah Martinez Reveals Her Newborn Daughter's Name One Week After Water Birth
Bekah Martinez is introducing her newborn to the world!
A week after the former Bachelor contestant welcomed her first child via a water birth in Los Angeles, Martinez, 23, finally announced her daughter’s name and its meaning on Instagram Friday.
“Introducing… Ruth Ray De La Luz Leonard ? (aka Ruthie Ray),” she wrote alongside an adorable newborn shot, captured by Kinda Arzon, of the baby curled up next to a Scrabble letter holder with the “Baby Ruth” spelled out on it.
Martinez, who shares Ruth Ray with boyfriend Grayston Leonard, explained that her daughter’s name held extra significance to the couple’s family members.
“Ruth= Grayston’s grandmother’s name, and one of my favorite biblical stories. Hebrew for friend or companion,” she explained of her daughter’s first name.
“De La Luz= My dad’s middle name. Spanish for ‘of the light’. A tribute to my Mexican heritage,” the former reality star continued, before adding, “Leonard= Her Daddy’s last name. ??”
While Ray was simply chosen because “Ruthie Ray is too damn cute.”
Baby Ruthie Ray arrived on Feb. 2 at 10:14 a.m., weighing 7 lbs 10 oz, PEOPLE confirmed.
Martinez opted to welcome her bundle of joy through a water birth at the Natural Birth Center in Los Angeles, which she later shared stunning photographs from on her Instagram.
In the intimate images, captured by Lauren Guilford, the new mom cradled her newborn baby against her chest as proud dad Leonard looked lovingly down at his partner and child.
Leonard, 29, also shared the news on Instagram Monday, posting a slideshow of photos of the baby.
“#nopicturesplease,” Leonard captioned the shot, which showed the tiny infant covering her face while being breastfed by Martinez. In the second photo, the baby girl was captured wearing a grey beanie and grey mittens.

Since Ruth Ray’s arrival, Martinez has taken every opportunity to show off her baby girl.
On Wednesday, the star shared a sweet photo of Ruthie Ray napping her car seat just four hours after her delivery. The baby wore a cozy gray onesie and a matching white hat and mitten set with gray polka-dots on them in the snap.
“This is baby girl only FOUR HOURS after being born!! is she perfect or what?! Grayston— you and I MADE this ???” she wrote in disbelief.
One day later, Martinez shared another intimate photo of her breastfeeding Ruth Ray in bed, with the lyrics to Paul McCartney’s “Mama’s Little Girl” in the caption.
“Looking like a rosebud, Mama’s little girl, Pickin’ up a mountain, Mama’s little girl, Better give me some time for this heart of mine, Cause I just can’t take it all in,” she lovingly wrote.
Martinez has even shared the not-so-glamorous side of things to her Instagram Stories. In the photo posted on Friday, the new mom explained how she was stressed, tired, and getting breast milk all over everything — yet was “feeling so lucky to be going through this.”
Martinez announced her pregnancy in October, revealing that she learned that she was pregnant three months into her relationship with Leonard. She said her pregnancy was unplanned, explaining, “I was in disbelief and thought, ‘Is this really happening?'”

She continued, “I immediately called Grayston and then went across the street to the Dollar Tree and bought two more pregnancy tests. They, of course, were both positive.”
The Bachelor alum broke the news to Leonard on Father’s Day. She told PureWow, “I was crying … and said, ‘You’re going to be a dad!’ We hugged, and it was the first time we really got to be overjoyed. We were finally able to celebrate and soak up all of that emotion.”

Raving about welcoming a baby, Martinez called it “legitimately a dream come true” and explained, “It’s the one thing that I’ve known with certainty for so long.”
“I’ve gone back and forth on the idea of marriage and relationships, but I’ve always felt sure that I want to be a mom,” she said.
Martinez was a contestant from Arie Luyendyk’s season 22 of The Bachelor in 2018.
