'Bachelor' 'Bachelorette' Couples: Quickest Breakups Ever

Every year, the proud cast members of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette embark on a quest to find everlasting love — or, a few hundred thousand Instagram followers and a new source of income. But, with most of the past seasons of the show ending in heartbreak (insert Jenn Tran, Rachel Recchia and Gerry Turner), we’re more cynical than ever that the show can actually lead to true love.
But, after much careful research, it seems Bachelor Nation history has always had its unsuccessful stories, with some couples ending a shocking two days (!!!) after beginning their relationship.
To keep things simple, we took a look at the Bachelor Nation couples who never made it past six months, and there are quite a few. We wish we could say there was a clear pattern, and that some of these couples were obviously doomed from the start. But honestly, there’s no magic recipe for making a reality TV romance last. Every time contestants go on the show, they’re hoping to be the rare one who gets the final rose — and the rare one to make that final rose actually mean something.

Jenn Tran & Devin Strader
In the season finale of Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette in 2024, viewers saw Devin propose to her in Hawai’i before Jenn revealed they were no longer together.
“As soon as we had left Hawai’i, things were just different,” she told host, Jesse Palmer, per People. “It kind of just felt like he was pulling away all the promises that he had made to me — wanting to move somewhere together, and wanting to have this future planned out, and wanting to see each other all the time.”
“He called me, and he basically broke off the engagement,” she said. “[He said] he didn’t love me anymore, feel the same way and felt like something had been off since the second thing he proposed. He regretted getting engaged.”
Gerry Turner & Theresa Nist
After getting engaged during Gerry’s season finale of the first season of The Golden Bachelor, Gerry and Theresa went on to tie the knot in a live televised ceremony on Jan. 4, 2024. Three months later, they announced their split.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we’ve looked closely at our situation — our living situation — and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Gerry told Good Morning America, per Us Weekly.
Rachel Recchia & Tino Franco
After getting engaged in the season finale, Rachel Recchia and then-fiancé Tino Franco were together for only a few weeks before breaking things off before the season even aired.
During After the Final Rose, the two talked about what went wrong, including Tino admitting to cheating on Rachel after a fight. “It was a one-time mistake and I realized immediately that I needed to be with you.” he said, asking, “Is there a way this works out, Rachel?” Rachel stood firm in her decision to end things but the moment was dramatic, to say the least.
Peter Weber & Madison Prewett
We don’t have the exact date of when Madison and Peter “reconciled” after their on-air breakup — but between Peter’s split from Hannah Ann Sluss at the end of January and the airing of this live reunion in early March, they can’t have been “dating” more than a month before calling it off two days after the reunion.
Peter Weber & Hannah Ann Sluss
Peter and Hannah Ann appeared to have made it to at least one month of their engagement, with Peter proposing at the end of filming his Bachelor season 24. But before After the Final Rose happened, he and Sluss broke up in front of the cameras at the end of January.
Hannah Brown & Jed Wyatt
Hannah Brown accepted Jed Wyatt’s proposal on the finale of her Bachelorette season (season 15), but news of Jed’s previous, undisclosed relationship started making the rounds a few weeks later. Just two months after accepting his ring, Hannah gave it right back, and she was single by the time her live finale aftershow aired.
Becca Kufrin & Arie Luyendyk Jr.
Another famously short engagement! Arie proposed to Becca in the finale of his Bachelor season, then had a filmed visit with her two months later, where he broke up with (a clearly blindsided) Becca to be with runner-up Lauren Burnham instead.
Chris Soules & Whitney Bischoff
Chris got down on one knee for Whitney at the end of his Bachelor season (season 19) — but six months later, the couple announced their breakup.
Aaron Buerge & Helene Eksterowicz
Aaron Buerge and Helene Eksterowicz were a fan-favorite couple during season two of The Bachelor. And everyone was happy for them when at the end of the show, but they broke up a little over a month later.
Travis Stork & Sarah Stone
In season eight of The Bachelor, Travis Stork didn’t propose to Sarah Stone but they did start a romance. However, they ended up breaking up before the show finished taping. Awkward.
Andrew Firestone & Jen Schefft
At the end of the third season of The Bachelor, Andrew Firestone proposed to Jen Schefft, but the romance only lasted six months.
Lorenzo Borghese & Jennifer Wilson
Lorenzo Borghese didn’t propose to Jennifer Wilson, but they did start dating at the end of the ninth season of The Bachelor. They only dated two months before calling it quits.
Jason Mesnick & Melissa Rycroft
Also joining the “under one month” relationship club: Jason and Molly! Jason originally proposed to Melissa during the finale of his Bachelor season, then realized he’d made a mistake and asked her for the ring back on After the Final Rose only a few weeks later, to be with runner-up Molly Malaney instead.
Jesse Palmer & Jessica Bowlin
Jesse and Jessica didn’t end his Bachelor season engaged, but they did end it together, with Jesse gifting her a plane ticket to visit him rather than an engagement ring. But alas, the couple called it quits just two months later.
Bob Guiney & Estella Gardinier
Bob Guiney also chose not to propose at the end of his Bachelor season, gifting Estella a promise ring instead. But the promise only lasted so long, and three months later they were done.
Matt Grant & Shayne Lamas
Matt did propose to Shayne on his season of The Bachelor, and they ended the show happily engaged — before splitting up four months later.
Brad Womack & Emily Maynard
Brad just can’t quite nail this Bachelor thing, huh? During his first season as The Bachelor, he rejected both of his final two women. During his second season, he proposed to Emily Maynard — but the engagement only lasted five months.
Jake Pavelka & Vienna Girardi
Jake and Vienna, one of the more tumultuous couples in Bachelor history, got engaged at the end of Jake’s Bachelor season. They broke up after six months and shot a very messy joint interview with Chris Harrison all about it.
Emily Maynard & Jef Holm
Emily Maynard got her second shot at love as The Bachelorette, choosing bad boy Jef Holm at the end of her season. The engagement lasted six months before they went their separate ways.
