A familiar face is joining the Law & Order family. Maura Tierney, who most will remember for her decade-long stint on the NBC drama ER, is now trying her hand at a very different kind of NBC procedural, one involving lawyers and cops instead of doctors. So, who are the new Law & Order Season 24 cast members?

Who Are the Law & Order Season 24 New Cast Members?
Details on her character are being kept under wraps, but Tierney is said to be playing a new Lt. The news should come as no surprise to anyone considering the Season 23 finale of the show saw Camryn Manheim depart the role of Lt. Kate Dixon on the long-running Dick Wolf procedural, meaning the NBC drama needed someone to replace her, and considering how big of a presence Manheim was, it couldn’t be just anyone.
The cast shakeup follows a complicated year for the franchise, which also saw fan-favorite DA Jack McCoy step down. He was replaced by Scandal’s own President Tony Goldwyn, playing DA Nicholas Baxter. Jeffrey Donovan also exited the show last summer, with TVLine reporting then that he was let go for creative reasons. He was replaced by Veep’s Reid Scott as Det. Vincent Riley.

All in all, the show has had more cast changes than most procedurals – and procedurals are a genre used to cast changes to begin with. But Tierney is a well-loved veteran of the genre and someone who can hopefully bring stability to the franchise. She played Abby Lockhart on ER from Season 6 until Season 15.
She can also be seen in the new movie Twisters, which is currently in theaters, and some of her other TV credits include The Affair, NewsRadio and Rescue Me.

The current ensemble of Law & Order includes Hugh Dancy, Mehcad Brooks, and Oldelya Halevi. The show is set to return to NBC for Season 24 on Thursday, October 3rd. Brooks was recently announced to be joining Season 3 of And Just Like That, the Max revival of the hit HBO series Sex and the City, but his role is said to not affect his time on Law & Order.
Law & Order is available to stream on Peacock.
