Banana Republic announces third 'Mad Men' clothing collection
Looking to add a little “Zou Bisou Bisou” to your wardrobe?
AMC has re-teamed with Banana Republic for a third Mad Men-inspired clothing collection, reports Women’s Wear Daily. Following the success of previous lines released in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012, series costume designer Janie Bryant has helped create a new capsule collection that’s also a sign of the times portrayed in the fifth season of the series, with a particular focus on the new Mrs. Draper. “Our inspiration was Megan, Don’s wife,” Bryant tells WWD. “Megan represents the young and modern.”
Though the 50-piece collection of women’s and men’s apparel and accessories draws on the mod vibe of the late ’60s, it isn’t totally retro. “It’s certainly not costumes,” Banana Republic creative director Simon Kneen says of the aesthetic, which includes plenty of plaids, prints and patterns, as well as swinging ’60s staples like shift dresses, sport coats and skinny ties. “It’s real clothes for today.”
Banana Republic’s latest Mad Men collection is set to arrive in stores March 1.
