Ed Helms-Owen Wilson Comedy ‘Bastards’ Gets November 2016 Release Date

Warner Bros has set a November 4, 2016, release date for its Ed Helms-Owen Wilson comedy Bastards. The film, which marks the directorial debut

of DP Lawrence Sher, is about two brothers whose eccentric mother has fabricated the story that their father had died when they were young. When they find out the story is false, they make it their mission to find their real father.

Bastards moves into a space currently occupied by Disney Marvel’s Doctor Strange and 20th Century Fox’s Trolls. The first frame of November is always a hot one, ramping up to the Veterans Day holiday.

Ving Rhames, J.K. Simmons, Terry Bradshaw, Katt Williams and Glenn Close also star in Bastards. As previously announced, Rhames plays Rod Hamilton, a former football player and next door neighbor who helps Bradshaw figure out if he’s the father to Helm’s character. J.K. Simmons also portrays a paternal suspect. Close plays the brothers’ mama, who has a past as a wild 1970s party girl who slept around.

Bastards is written by Justin Malen (Bad Teacher 2) with Alcon financing and Montecito Picture Company also providing. Montecito’s Ivan Reitman and Ali Bell will produce along with Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove of Alcon. Montecito’s Tom Pollock will executive produce along with Chris Fenton and Chris Cowles.
