Next: The “zombie repellant” candle
“It all started with the ‘Zombie Repellant’ candle,” Cogar says of her Etsy shop, which launched this summer. “I had been dying to try out selling on Etsy, but wanted to do more than just a run-of-the-mill candle shop. One day, an idea just sparked that I could combine my candle making hobby with my love of geeky things.”
“Zombie Repellant” Soy Candle; $14
Next: Game of Thrones goat’s milk soap
After the success of the candles, Cogar branched out into handmade bath and body products. This Game of Thrones-inspired soap is a blend of sugared orange, mulberry and spice — exactly how Cogar imagines Daenerys Targaryen might smell… when she’s not traveling across the desert with a Dothraki horde.
Khaleesi Foaming Hand Soap; $6
Next: Hobbit foaming hand soap
“I don’t have any set process for coming up with product ideas, they just seem to hit me in the face at random times,” Cogar says of items like her range of Lord of the Rings soaps, candles and perfumes. “I only use themes from fandoms that I am personally in love with.”
Hobbit Garden Scented Foaming Hand Soap; $6
Next: Doctor Who lip balm
Cogar says lip balm has been Bubble & Geek’s top seller so far. The natural oil and wax lip products come in various flavors, inspired by everything from the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver and favorite Jammie Dodgers cookies to video games like Portal and Team Fortress 2.
Sonic Screwdriver Lip Balm; $3.75
Next: Harry Potter body lotion
“Butterbeer is probably my most popular scent,” says Cogar, who is always open to ideas from pop culture-obsessed Etsy customers.
