Behind the Scenes at Paris Fashion Week With Selma Blair
The one and only Selma Blair has been busy lately, first on duty during the Tribeca Film Festival as a jury member and then as a front row regular in Paris, for the Ami show during men’s fashion week and then at the couture shows of Balenciaga, Schiaparelli and Jean Paul Gaultier. She also celebrated her 52nd birthday in town, at the Vogue World event no less. “It felt like the whole world conspired to throw me a party,” she said.
For the Ami show, which Blair described as “the Paris style adored by everyone,” she requested “long wavy hair, editorial hair” and her hair stylist Paul Jones worked his magic.

Fashion-wise, she opted for a tailored coat.
“The fit of this coat as a dress was perfection. The gloves, the hair, the petite bag, all very polished. Parisienne conviction of style. Well earned,” she said. “I love a glove but I took them off at a party and they remained long after I did, to my horror. Sorry Ami Paris. I hope someone is loving them. And returns them to Ami.”
For the Schiaparelli couture show, Blair wore a tie made out of braided hair, and paired it with her own hair worn back in a braid. “The braid in the back. As opposed to the braid in the front,” she said of the look.
Her look for the show can only be described as “swagger.”
“I love everything about this suit. I love everything about Schiaparelli. Always have, always will,” Blair said.
At Balenciaga’s couture show, she wore a dress that matched her eyes. “But alas, nobody was looking at my eyes. The show was the thing,” she said.
Blair sat front row alongside many mother-daughter famous faces, including Nicole Kidman and her daughter Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, Naomi Watts and daughter Kai Schreiber and Maya Rudolph and daughter Pearl Minnie Anderson.
“Maybe next year, Arthur!’ Blair joked of her son, Arthur. “We are both such lovers of Balenciaga.”
