Belgian Malinois Is Confused and Excited After Seeing Mom and Brother on National TV
There are so many reasons to love dogs, from their unwavering love and loyalty to their ability to live completely in the moment. But there are also tons of reasons to love being a dog owner, especially when you get to experience the world through your buddy's eyes.
A proud Belgian Malinois mom got to have a fun and special experience when she and her pup Chief appeared on ESPN for a special on the canine sport of dock diving. But a second special moment happened on July 5 when the athlete's brother, Captian, watched his mom and brother on TV for the very first time. His reaction says it all!
LOL! Those head tilts are absolutely priceless, but my favorite detail was how he reacted to the jump itself. He knew exactly when it started, and he stood up in excitement to watch his big bro give it his all. Besides Mom, who's both owner and trainer of these Belgian Malinois, Captain is Chief's biggest fan!

"He was like, 'I taught him everything he knows,'" one viewer commented. No kidding! These sibling dogs are used to playing and training at home together, so it must be quite a shock for Captain to see both Chief and Mom on a screen. I'm not sure whether this is a live event or if the duo is back home and Captain is seeing double, but either way, it's easy to see why he's feeling so flabbergasted.
This family of athletes also has lots of downtime to rest, relax, and bond, just like they were doing when this video was taken. If you need any proof, just look at where Captain is sitting: on the coffee table! If that's not a sign of canine comfort, I don't know what is.
What Is Dock Diving?
As you may be able to see on the TV screen, Chief is participating in a canine sport called dock diving. In this competition, dogs will run along a dock before diving into a long pool of water to catch a toy. The goal of this sport is to jump the furthest; catching the toy doesn't matter! Judges measure how far a dog jumps by measuring the distance between the edge of the dock and the spot where a dog's nose lands in the water.
Even though judges will be paying attention to a dog's jumping distance, the athletes themselves are just happy to be there. Captain even got fired up watching dock diving on TV! There are so many reasons to try competitive canine sports, especially with working dog breeds like Belgian Malinois, but sometimes it's just as fun to watch sports, too!
