Bella Thorne Slams Ozempic Trend For Harming Her Body Image

Bella Thorne is shaking up the Ozempic discourse.

The Shake It Up alum recently got candid about the impact the pervasiveness of the weight loss medication has had on her own body image.

“So I haven't been feeling good about my body for a while, and especially with everybody on Ozempic,” the 26-year-old said in a video shared to her July 20 Instagram Story. “It’s setting all these crazy beauty standards that nobody can keep up with unless you’re on Ozempic, and I have swam every day and I have sweat out everything possible and I have walked everywhere!”

“I’m finally feeling good about myself. Finally feeling good,” she added while posing in a blue bikini, before brandishing her middle finger. “So Ozempic you can—off.”

With her video, Bella—who is engaged to music producer Mark Emms—has become the next in a long line of celebrities who have weighed in on the health fad gripping Hollywood and beyond, which has seen type 2 diabetes drugs such as Ozempic and used as a method for weight loss.

And when it comes to those who have given their two cents on the trend, the consensus is evenly split between those who have sung the drug’s praises and those who have condemned it.

In fact, even within the Housewives universe, different Bravolebrities have varied different experiences while taking various weight loss drugs.

While Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Jennifer Aydin praised Mounjaro—telling Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live July 14, “I love being this weight, I love it! I have so much energy if you couldn't tell.”—her costar Jennifer Fessler revealed in December a similar drug left her with an impacted bowel.

Meanwhile, Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kandi Burruss shared taking Ozempic had no effect on her weight, though it did impact her mental health.

"Last year, I tried it," she told PageSix's Virtual Reali-Tea podcast June 25. "I saw so many people who were trying it and losing weight. So I was like, ‘Okay, I'm going to try this.' And I didn't lose any weight."

In fact, her result left even medical staff stumped.

"My doctor was like, ‘I don't know what the problem is, I'm not seeing this in other people,'" Kandi explained, adding, “When you see it worked for other people and it doesn't work for you, it makes you depressed. Realistically, it makes you feel like, ‘What is wrong with me? Why is it not working for me?'"
