Bella Thorne To Star In Lifetime Movie As Teen Heroin Addict

Former Disney starlet Bella Thorne is all grown up. The “Shake It Up” actress will star in Lifetime’s upcoming movie, “Perfect High,” as a teenage heroin addict, Variety has confirmed.
“Perfect High” follows a star high school dancer, Amanda (Thorne), who begins taking prescription painkillers for a knee injury, which turns into dangerous habit of sharing pills with friends, lying and stealing to fund her drug habit. This eventually leads to addiction when she’s tricked into using heroin via pills disguised as cheap painkillers.
Israel Broussard (“The Bling Ring”), Daniela Bobadilla (“Anger Management”) and Ross Butler (“Teen Beach Movie”) round out the cast, playing Thorne’s friends in the popular crowd.
Thorne starred in “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” alongside Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner, and “Blended” with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. She also appears in the upcoming movie “The DUFF.”
The TV movie, which is inspired by the recent rise in heroin addiction among suburban teenagers in the U.S, is a co-production between Just Singer Entertainment and Sepia Films. Sheri Singer (“Girl vs. Monster,” “Halloweentown”) will exec produce with Tina Pehme and Kim C. Roberts serving as producers. Vanessa Parise will direct.
“Perfect High” began shooting in Victoria, British Columbia on Feb. 1.
