Beloved Character Dies on ‘Homeland’ Season Finale
Sunday night’s season finale of Homeland was a tough one for fans to watch. It had been a rough road for Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) on the show ever since he made his first appearance in Season 2. He’d been shot multiple times, poisoned with sarin gas, and was in a house that exploded, and yet he always made it out alive. Unfortunately, he did not make it out of Sunday’s episode.
After an assassination attempt on President-elect Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) failed, Carrie (Claire Danes) and Quinn tried to get her to safety. They jumped in the president-elect’s vehicle as Quinn told Carrie to lie on top of Keane. Quinn pulled out of the parking structure to find dozens of armed men waiting. With no other options left, he slammed on the gas and drove right toward them as they opened fire on the vehicle. Because it was the president-elect’s car, it withstood a lot of bullets, but, eventually two got through, hitting Quinn in the chest. He was able to blast through the barricade, but the damage had been done.
The vehicle slowly came to a stop, hitting a parked car, as Quinn slumped over in his seat. Carrie and Keane finally sat up to see that they were safe and that Quinn was dead.
It was a sad moment for Carrie, the fans, and Rupert Friend, who posted on Twitter shortly after the episode aired. Friend tweeted a picture of himself as Quinn with the caption “Goodnight, and good luck.”
Homeland airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
