Bemidji artist Alice Blessing to be featured in Stillwater Gallery exhibit
Sep. 30—STILLWATER — An exhibit titled "New Views on Pattern and Decoration" featuring three Minnesota artists, including Alice Blessing from Bemidji, will open with a reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, at ArtReach St. Croix, 224 N. Fourth St., Stillwater.
Artists Alice Blessing, Carrie Katzenmeyer and Kirsten Yocum create art that recalls the pattern and decorative movement of the 1970s through their use of bold, saturated colors and highly designed backgrounds, a release said.
"Blessing's work uses powerful, emotive backgrounds to portray strength and vibrancy in her portraits," Heather Rutledge, executive director of ArtReach St. Croix, said in the release.
The ArtReach St. Croix gallery is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The exhibit will remain on display through Saturday, Nov. 11.
