Ben Platt had a relatable moment when he sent a "dissertation" of a text message to Noah Galvin early on in their relationship during a brief moment of panic.

On the Aug. 27th episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's podcast, Dinner's on Me, the Tony-winning actor spoke about the early days of his romance with now-fiancé while promoting his new album, Honeymind.

While workshopping the musical Alice by Heart in 2019, the two started "hooking up." Platt, 30, added, "We would go to the stairwell during break and make out in the stairwell."

However, after being together for a couple of months, he "panicked" and sent Galvin, 30, a "text that's so long that it has an arrow at the bottom to go to the rest of it."

"I sent him a dissertation, and it was like, 'Oh, feel like we're gonna be friends for our whole lives,' and like, 'I'm, I'm worried if we jump into something, it's gonna ruin our chance to be friends,' " Platt recalled on the podcast.

"Basically, now I can tell in hindsight, like, [I] met someone who, like, actually we saw each other and it freaked me out," Platt said, revealing that had wanted to just be friends, and that Galvin was like, "I hate you."

They eventually became friends for a while and would occasionally run into one another at events.

Platt also wanted to note that even though Galvin had taken over the titular role in Broadway's Dear Evan Hansen in 2017, the couple met in 2015 when their mutual friends were making a web series.

After two years of dating, they got engaged in November 2022, and in May 2023, Platt revealed that Galvin "proposed back."

While promoting Honeymind, Platt told PEOPLE that his goal for his upcoming wedding is for everyone to dance all night. “For me, the only real judge of how the vibe is how many people are on the dancefloor,” he said in May.

“We’re going to have a band at one point and a DJ at a different point. So that’s my focus. I’m not someone who needs to focus on the place settings like, beyond food, I’m chilling,” Platt continued.
