Berlin: Milla Jovovich in Talks for ‘In the Lost Lands’

Myriad Pictures is in advanced negotiations with Milla Jovovich to star in its fantasy adventure film “In the Lost Lands,” adapted from short stories by George R.R. Martin (“Game of Thrones”).
Myriad is launching foreign sales at the Berlin Film Festival.
The project marks the first time that a film based on Martin’s writing is being produced for the bigscreen. Martin’s “A Song of Fire and Ice” novels were adapted into the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones.”
“In the Lost Lands” will also star Justin Chatwin (“Shameless”), with German director Constantin Werner helming from his own screenplay adaptation. Shooting on the German-Canadian co-production is planned for the fourth quarter in Germany.
“In the Lost Lands” is based on three short stories by Martin. In one thread, the desperate queen of a city built into a towering mountain hires a sorceress — played by Jovovich — to travel into the ghostly wasteland called the Lost Lands to obtain the gift of shape-shifting into a werewolf.
Another thread involves a warrior girl who must fight a dragon that serves as the gatekeeper of seven worlds to reunite with her lost lover. The futuristic tale “Bitterblooms” centers on a young barbarian girl who is spellbound by a lonely witch in a spacecraft.
Producers are Steve Hoban, Oliver Luer and Nico Bruinsma. Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico will serve as an executive producer.
Visual effects house Pixomondo has been selected for the special effects. Pixomondo has done the visual effects for “Game of Thrones,” as well as the “Hunger Games” franchise, the “Fast & Furious” franchise, “Star Trek Into Darkness” and “Snow White and the Huntsman.”
