Best Makeup at the Oscars, From Demi Moore’s Dewy Skin to Ariana Grande’s Glossy Pink Lips
When it comes to makeup, the stars went back to the basics at the 2025 Oscars.
Throughout this awards season, celebs have been opting for bold looks bringing vibrant makeup back to the red carpet. For example, Miley Cyrus sported a deep smoky eye at the Grammys, while red statement lips were the name of the game at the Golden Globes with the likes of Fran Drescher, Alexandra Daddario, Isabella Rossellini and Dakota Fanning. However, the stars went in the opposite direction for the 2025 Oscars, opting for dewy skin, pink lips and matte, neutral eyes.

Skin prep, which has become viral on TikTok, was on full display for many, including Scarlett Johansson whose skin was prepped using her own skin care brand The Outset. Similarly, Meg Ryan’s complexion was fresh and dewy thanks to G.M. Collins products. Additionally, Ivan Pol, known for his proprietary radiofrequency treatment called The Beauty Sandwich, prepped Emma Stone, Ana de Armas, Penelope Cruz and Mindy Kaling for the awards show.
While stars sported deep lined lips and bold red pouts at this year’s Grammy’s and Golden Globes, respectively, all-over washes of soft pink were the go-to at the Oscars. Ariana Grande opted for a cool-toned light, glossy version, while Demi Moore, who is nominated for “The Substance,” Selena Gomez, Zoe Salda?a and Rachel Sennott went for a more neutral ‘your lips but better’ look. Meanwhile, Margaret Qualley went for a slightly deeper pink hue. Many, including Grande, also finished their looks with matching pink blushes.
Although neutral eyes with soft matte brown shadows were the pick of the night, some sported bolder eye looks that stood out. For example, Elle Fanning wore a bold cat eye complimented by the night’s trend of soft pink lips. Ditto “Anora’s” Mikey Madison. Rachel Zegler went for a bronze-y smoky eye topped with black liner using Dior products. Addtionally, Grande finished off her look with a bit of iridescent sparkle on her eyelids.
Like much of the makeup, the nails were simple. Grande and Sennott opted for classic French tips. However, Cynthia Erivo showed off her go-to ultra-long nails, which featured green and gold accents.
