Top 5 Moments of Episode 12:
1. Return to Camp: After voting out, Kyle Ostwald, the resident challenge beast of the season, the remaining castaways seemed in good spirits. Sue Smey was especially thrilled, but Sam Phalen was more worried about his future. Sam really was in the best position with the jury though, which nobody really could see at this point. Also, Caroline felt like she was running the game alongside Sue, but everyone has made power moves besides Sam and Christine “Teeny” Chirichillo at this point. Genevieve Mushaluk angered Teeny, as did Sam, since the duo was very much aware that more than likely they were the next two out, yet joked about it.
2. Letters From Home on the Line: The first parts of this challenge seemed fun, but then I realized my aim is terrible. Saying that, the reward of Italian food and letters from home would light a fire under my butt, too. The victor was Sam, who opted to take Andy Rueda, and Genevieve with him. A huge loss for the others, but a major chance for Sam to deflate the egos of Sue and Caroline, so a win-win. Teeny was furious, noting that Sam’s choices changed nothing for the future of the two members at the bottom of the tribal ladder.
3. Time to Woo Andy: Besides the fact that Sam had never had tiramisu before, the big aspect of this reward was garnering favor with Andy. Genevieve was questioned about her detached nature in the game, which she explained, but let’s be honest here: it got her this far and major threats were eliminated due to her, so her gameplay is not a complete failure…even if she viewed it as such. Meanwhile, back at camp it was chaos. Anger thy name is Teeny. Sour grapes from that group, but honestly it was more off-putting to see them complain that Sam is playing the game the last few weeks instead of being a doormat. Unbeknownst to them, Andy spilled the beans about the major alliance and crafted a plan to split the vote to eliminate Rachel LaMont.
4. Immunity Nightmare: Whoever would win immunity deserved it as this challenge was a nightmare. Rachel emerged victorious, which threw the plan off a bit. With a fake idol in play, a target on Caroline’s back, Sue wondering if she should play her idol for Caroline, and Teeny believing the fake idol was legit, the vote was destined to be as WWE’s Sheamus would say, “a banger.”
5. Juror #5: Jeff wasted no time to delve into the issues at hand, but Genevieve used it as an opportunity for a soft reset and to present herself as someone who let the walls down, finally. Seeing Caroline and Teeny glance and smile at one another was just hilarious knowing what we knew and what they didn’t. When all was said and done, Sue did not play her idol for Caroline, who was shown the door. Operation Italy was a major success and left Teeny and Sam dejected. Turns out that pecking order is not made in concrete. Caroline did not seem bitter about the result though, so she could be an open vote on the jury.
