Bettye LaVette among headliners at The Narrows Center for the Arts in July

FALL RIVER — The busy season continues at the Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan St., with six nights of diverse concerts and events.

From nationally acclaimed acts to local favorites, there is something for everyone to enjoy:

Wednesday, July 12: Tab Benoit

Tab Benoit is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist who has built a more than 30-year career on the foundation of his gritty and soulful Delta swamp blues, acquiring a devoted legion of fans along the way, as well as five Blues Music Awards, including BB King Entertainer of the Year (twice) and an induction into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

Thursday, July 13: Cracker

Cracker has been described as a lot of things over the years: alt-rock, Americana, insurgent-country, and have even had the terms punk and classic-rock thrown at them. But more than anything Cracker are survivors.

Friday, July 14: Bettye LaVette

The legendary Bettye LaVette is a six-time Grammy nominee, has received a Pioneer Award from The Rhythm & Blues Foundation, has won several Blues Music Awards and has been inducted into The Blues Hall Of Fame. LaVette is one of very few of her contemporaries who were recording during the birth of soul music in the 1960s and is still creating vital recordings today.

Saturday, July 15: The Englishtown Project

On Sept. 3, 1977, The Grateful Dead headlined one of the largest and most musically successful concerts of all time at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New .Jersey. In addition to the Grateful Dead, who had just completed its legendary Spring/Summer 1977 tour featuring a batch of new material from Terrapin Station, the show also included the Dead family’s New Riders of the Purple Sage and the good-time, southern rock of The Marshall Tucker Band. This tribute extravaganza will feature healthy “doses” of selections from each band’s sets that day along with other deep cuts from all three bands.

Saturday, July 22: Rodney Crowell: The Chicago Sessions Tour with special guests Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley

Born and raised in Texas, two-time Grammy-winner Rodney Crowell arrived in Nashville in the early 1970s, coming to prominence first as a writer before establishing himself as a critically acclaimed solo artist in his own right. With 15 number one hits under his belt and tracks recorded by everyone from Emmylou Harris and Johnny Cash to Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, it would be difficult to overstate Crowell’s impact on roots music over the past five decades.

Saturday, July 29: The Garcia Project

The Garcia Project is the nationally touring, critically acclaimed tribute to The Jerry Garcia Band. The Garcia Project performs full, classic set lists from 1976-95. Using replication instruments, speakers, amps and sound stylings, The Garcia Project’s performances are recreations of full, classic Jerry Garcia Band set lists. More than just a cover band, the band uses thoughtful arrangements and the proper instrumentation and feel to faithfully channel and project the feelings, emotions and music that propelled the Jerry Garcia Band and their fans through the years.

Art gallery exhibition

Through July 14: “Remedy: How We Feel” 

A three-person group show of artists who are linked together by their interpretations of how art can be a healing force for the self as well as individual viewers, communities, and the planet.

The Narrows Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Narrows exhibits visual artwork of every medium in two art galleries and houses a 430-seat concert space showcasing international, national and local performers of various musical genres. Offering arts educational programming, local school tours, artist studio spaces and free festivals for the community, the Narrows presents an ever-growing access and fellowship in the arts.
