Have ‘Big Fun’ in Moline on Saturday
Sound Conservatory, 504 17th St., Moline, is presenting its next concert on Saturday, May 25, at 7 p.m.
The band is Big Fun Jazz, a dynamic six-piece ensemble renowned for their captivating performances spanning the realms of funk, soul, and jazz fusion, drawing inspiration from the rich musical tapestry of the ’60s, ’70s, and beyond, according to a Sound Conservatory release.
“With a repertoire that pays homage to luminaries such as Herbie Hancock, Eddie Harris, Freddie Hubbard, and more, Big Fun delivers a spellbinding fusion of groove and melody that transcends eras,” the band bio says. “Comprising seasoned virtuosos boasting illustrious careers both on stage and in academia, each member brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the ensemble.”
Several members are on the esteemed faculties of both the University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa, where their dedication to musical education shines brightly, the bio says.
“Having honed their craft together for the past five years, Big Fun eagerly anticipates a year brimming with musical exploration and unparalleled joy in 2024. Join them on a sonic journey where every note resonates with passion and every performance promises an unforgettable experience,” the event release says.
