What 'Black-ish' cast members think about Kenya Barris's departure
News broke over the summer that Black-ish creator Kenya Barris would be leaving ABC for Netflix, but some castmembers are just reacting.
Asked about the impact of Barris’s departure on the show, Marcus Scribner tells Yahoo Entertainment, “I feel like we’re still running a smooth ship.” He adds that Kenny Smith Jr., who stepped in as co-showrunner, is helping to “steer our boat” in the right direction.
Peter Mackenzie agrees that Smith Jr., who is working alongside Black-ish alum Jonathan Groff, is amazing. Because of that, he says, “it feels like we didn’t skip a beat. I think we’ll actually be better.”
