Blake Lively’s long-awaited ‘It Ends With Us’ trailer features a haunting Taylor Swift song
BFF goals!
The first trailer for Blake Lively’s movie “It Ends With Us” features a song by her BFF Taylor Swift.
“My Tears Ricochet,” from Swift’s 2020 album “Folklore,” plays during the two-and-a-half-minute-long trailer for the romance film that will be released in theaters on August 9.
Lively, 36, is the lead star in the movie based on author Colleen Hoover’s hit novel of the same name.
Justin Baldoni directed the feature and also stars in it opposite Lively.
The trailer opens with a haunting version of “My Tears Ricochet” by Swift, 34, as Lively’s Lily Bloom and Baldoni’s Ryle Kincaid fall in love in Boston.
However, their relationship gets complicated by the return of Lily’s first love Atlas Corrigan, played by Brandon Sklenar.
The logline for the Sony Pictures movie reads, “‘It Ends With Us’ tells the compelling story of Lily Bloom, a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship.”
“When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan, suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.”
Last year, Hoover, 44, admitted she was shocked when Lively was cast in the film adaptation of her book.
A major point of contention is that the 36-year-old actress is portraying a 23-year-old character.
“I didn’t believe it,” Hoover said about Lively’s casting in an interview with “Today.“
The author added: “I have been obsessed with Blake Lively since ‘Gossip Girl’ days — I’m just a huge fan of hers, and of course of her husband [Ryan Reynolds].”
Lively, who isn’t a natural redhead like Lily, dyed her hair for the role.
Baldoni, 40, told People last month that viewers “are going to be blown away” by Lively’s performance.
“It’s so nuanced, it’s so unique, it’s so beautiful,” he said. “I don’t want to give away too much, but I believe it’s Blake Lively as you’ve never seen her before.”
Lively, for her part, said she loved the experience of getting to play Lily.
“Lily resonated with an enormous amount of people, as the success of the book made clear,” the actress told People. “Stepping into a character who’s had such a meaningful impact is an honor to take on.”
“I loved Lily,” Lively added, “and I hope that love is felt by those who care about her like I do, and also those who are getting to know her for the first time in this film.”
“It Ends With Us” is in theaters Aug. 9.
