Blake Shelton jokes his wedding to Gwen Stefani would be 'pretty classless' if he was in control

Will Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have a country-fried wedding?
They will if it is up to Shelton – which it isn't.
"If I was picking our meal, it would just literally be everything fried," he tells USA TODAY. "French fries, chicken tenders, you know, all of that stuff. I think she knows that it would be a pretty classless wedding if I was in control."
Shelton is happy to relinquish planning duties to the "Hollaback Girl" singer, all the way down to his wardrobe.
"I never pick my own clothes unless I'm doing one of these FaceTime calls with you and I put on a cap and shirt," he said. "But she picks my clothes for things like … something formal with the family. I never even pick my clothes for 'The Voice.' I have a girl that does that for me. So, nobody lets me pick clothes. That's not a Gwen wedding thing. That's just in general."

The couple connected on set at "The Voice" in 2015 when both were coaches on the long-running NBC talent search. The pair formed a fast friendship and bonded over their complex, high-profile divorces. The following year, Shelton told The Tennessean, part of the USA TODAY Network, the relationship "literally saved my life." He explained he and Stefani initially struggled with trust issues, but they turned them into inspiration for their first duet, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart."
Almost exactly five years after they cowrote the song, Shelton talked to Stefani's father then proposed to her on a trip to his Oklahoma farm in October. He won her family's approval years before when he pulled a chain out of the back of his truck and cleared a fallen tree that blocked the road.
During an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" last year, Stefani recalled: "He wraps it around the tree, and my whole family is, like, 'Oh my God, he's a man!'"

She said the couple has been together so long that she was starting to wonder if Shelton was ever going to pop the question. While appearing on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" earlier this year, she lamented the timing of Shelton's proposal delayed their wedding further.
"It's like, 'Blake, why couldn't you have done it before?'" she said. "Now we can't have a wedding with the pandemic. It's like sitting around going, 'OK, drag it out more.'"
In reality, it means Stefani has more time to enjoy the process – a fact about which Shelton couldn't be happier. He's sure she's pretty pleased, too.
"I want her to do all of that stuff and handle it because it's going to be great," Shelton said. "She's in the middle of planning the thing, and she's always so mindful … of me. She's like, 'Hey, I don't want to just take this thing over.' I think she's having a blast doing it. I mean, I know she's having a blast doing it."
