Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp Call It Quits
Former rom-com queen Meg Ryan's romance with John Mellencamp did not end as happily as one of her movies.
The two called off their three-year relationship in August, People confirmed.
"It was the distance," a source told the magazine. "She lives in New York and he resides in Indiana. It was the long distance that ultimately was the cause."

Ryan, 52, does indeed reside in the Big Apple, where she's raising her 9-year-old adopted daughter, Daisy. (She also has a 22-year-old son, Jack, with ex-husband Dennis Quaid.) Meanwhile Mellencamp, 62, has long been vocal in songs such as "Small Town" and "Little Pink Houses" about his love for his home state of Indiana.

He reaffirmed his love for the Hoosier State in a December interview. "I'm not leaving Indiana," he told Rolling Stone. "I'm going to die here."
Mellencamp dismissed the idea of moving to NYC because of the paparazzi presence and his soft heart.
"I'm too sensitive to live there," the father of five adult children said. "I can't see poor people. I can't see the suffering. I can't see the trash on the streets."
The two were an unexpected coupling for more than the fact that one of them preferred small town life to the big city. Ryan was previously romantically linked to movie stars, including A-lister Russell Crowe, while the blue-collar rocker didn't appear to be someone who would appreciate a Hollywood type.
