'Parasite' honored with Best Picture distinction from National Society of Film Critics

Parasite is being honored as the best picture of 2019 by the National Society of Film Critics, who announced on Saturday their list of top honors during their 54th annual awards vote in New York City. The organization also awarded Bong Joon Ho and Han Jin-won with the distinction of best screenplay for their collaborative work on the South Korean title.

Other accolades included Greta Gerwig as best director and Laura Dern for best supporting actress for their work in Little Women, Mary Kay Place as best actress in the film Diane, Antonio Banderas as best actor for Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory, and Brad Pitt won best supporting actor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Best cinematography went to Claire Mathon for Portrait of a Lady on Fire and Atlantics. Beekeeping documentary Honeyland won for best nonfiction film.

The National Society of Film Critics is made up of 60 of the country’s most prominent movie critics.
