Bret Michaels, Foreigner, and Chicago Highlight Late ’80s ‘Greatest Hits’
This week’s episode of ABC’s summer series Greatest Hits focused on the music of 1985 to 1990. Bret Michaels started off the show with his classic party hit, “Nothin’ But A Good Time,” to get the crowd in a good mood. The majority of the show was dominated by some of the ’80s best ballads.
Foreigner was joined onstage by Nate Ruess, the lead singer of Fun, for a fun rendition of the rock band’s ballad, “I Want to Know What Love Is.” The English/American group wasn’t the only band from the ’70s and ’80s to perform with a contemporary artist; Chicago and Aloe Blacc crushed a couple of the Windy City band’s classics together. They started off with “Look Away,” and then brought it home with “You’re the Inspiration.”
There was one group that wasn’t from the ’80s, and that was Wilson Phillips. Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson, and Chynna Phillips dominated 1990s with hit after hit, and the entire Greatest Hits crowd sang along with them as they belted out their greatest one, “Hold On.”
The show wasn’t just about classic songs; it was also about the girls that danced to those songs. The show’s host, Arsenio Hall, handed the coveted Greatest Video Babe Lifetime Achievement Award — something every little girl dreams of winning — to Tawny Kitaen.
Greatest Hits airs Thursday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
Watch the Backstreet Boys, Meghan Trainor, Wiz Khalifa and more collaborate on “Greatest Hits.”
