Bristol Palin details ex-husband's PTSD, marriage struggles in new 'Teen Mom OG' preview
With the Oct. 1 season premiere of Teen Mom OG just weeks away, MTV is giving viewers a taste of the drama ahead.
Much of it centers on new cast member Bristol Palin, the 27-year-old daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The mom of three’s addition to the cast has been slammed by many viewers who oppose her conservative political views, but the producers seem confident that Palin’s story — and cameos from former Gov. Palin herself — will keep audiences hooked.
A new trailer promoting Teen Mom OG‘s upcoming season shows Palin addressing the rifts in her relationship with Dakota Meyer. Palin announced her engagement to the former Marine in 2015, followed by news just two months later that they’d called off the wedding. A month after that, it was revealed that she was pregnant. (Palin’s oldest child, 9-year-old Tripp, is the son of her high school boyfriend, Levi Johnston.)
Palin and Meyer eventually reconciled, marrying in June 2016, roughly six months after the birth of daughter Sailor Grace. Daughter Atlee Bay was born in May 2017, but the couple have once again split up — for good, it seems. Palin announced in August that her divorce to Meyer had been finalized.
Teen Mom OG‘s cameras appear to have caught the now-exes in the midst of their relationship breakdown. In the trailer, Palin refers to her military veteran husband’s battle with PTSD, noting its effect on their marriage.
“We don’t know how to pull this together,” she says. “I don’t want to raise my kids to think that this is what a marriage looks like, you know?”

Elsewhere, the reality show is introducing viewers to another new cast member, Are You the One? alum Cheyenne Floyd, who clashes with her boyfriend over her ex’s involvement in her life.
And there’s trouble and tears ahead for Catelynn Lowell Baltierra and husband Tyler, who admits that he is “absolutely not” happy in his marriage.
Roll on, Oct. 1.
