Bristol Palin visits PTSD therapist to help communicate with ex-husband
On Teen Mom OG, Bristol Palin met with a therapist who specializes in PTSD in hopes of learning how to better communicate with her ex-husband, Dakota Meyer, a former Marine and Medal of Honor recipient. Things have been getting progressively worse, so Palin made this last-ditch effort to determine how to successfully co-parent.
She began the session by informing the therapist that Meyer is a combat vet who copes with anxiety and PTSD. Palin went on to describe their relationship, recounting that she had canceled their first wedding and left him and that when they finally did get married, Meyer constantly thought she was going to leave him. Explaining that many combat vets deal with abandonment issues, the therapist gave Palin a list of guidelines for not triggering Meyer and said it’s important for the two to be on the same page when they’re together. “No tension, no arguing, no discussing finances,” the therapist said. “You have to stop all disparaging remarks about each other.”
Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for things to get tense the next time Palin and Meyer met. They argued most of the time, and both brought up finances. Disparaging remarks were made. It got to the point where Palin just got up and left.
During the airing of the episode Monday night, Meyer posted a tweet expressing regret for some comments and included a photo of himself and Palin with her son, Tripp, all appearing happy.
In regards to the comment on tonight’s @teenmom episode insinuating Bristol is anything other than a great mother is deeply regretted on my part. Looking back and seeing my behavior does not represent the man that I strive to be. #TeenMomOG pic.twitter.com/a5uiAeI2FW
