Broadway in Delaware: What’s coming in fall 2024?
Live theater buffs, it's time to start flexing your big musical muscles in Delaware this fall season.
The First State will host multiple Broadway shows touring into town, plus posh local productions for off-Broadway fans and theater newcomers.
Here's a diverse preview of some cool theater events you'll want to consider.
Kinky Boots, Wilmington
The acclaimed musical "Kinky Boots" has plenty of sole and seductive tunes to keep audiences entertained, while promoting a message of acceptance. "Kinky Boots," which holds six Tony Awards, comes from Grammy Award-winning pop legend Cyndi Lauper and four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein.

Head Over Heels, Wilmington
The 1980s girl band The Go-Go's provide a rocking soundtrack for the melodic comedy "Head Over Heels, The Musical." This romp spotlights a royal family that desperately wants to avoid fulfilling the Oracle's prophecy of destruction.

Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, Wilmington
Fans of the late, great Tina Turner will see her comeback story unfold in this Broadway show, through a soundtrack of her iconic tunes. The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, who won 12 Grammys, will keep her legacy alive in "Tina — The Tina Turner Musical."

Heathers: The Musical, Milton
When Veronica Sawyer is dying to become popular in high school, she's surprisingly shown the ropes by three attractive and mean Heathers. Things start to look up until a mysterious teen rebel shows up and teaches her that being a nobody may feel like a death sentence, but it's deadly to be a somebody in "Heathers: The Musical."

Sweeney Todd, Rehoboth Beach
A vengeful demon barber is determined to give a nice shave to a corrupt judge who wrongfully imprisoned him in Clear Space Theatre Company's musical take on "Sweeney Todd."

La bohème, Wilmington
OperaDelaware and Baltimore present their fourth co-production with "La bohème." In the show, a poet and his roommate painter are struggling artists who burn their art to keep warm during the winter. Things really start to heat up after the poet meets a cute neighbor.

If you enjoyed the sassy comedic film "Mean Girls," then this popular musical version will be a treat. The show follows Cady Heron, raised in the African savanna, as she navigates suburban Illinois and beefs with the ruthless (but charming) Regina George. To take down the Queen Bee, Cady must risk getting stung herself.
