Broadway Director Laurence Connor Signs With Paradigm

Laurence Connor, the “School of Rock” director who’s restaged a string of British megamusicals, has signed with Paradigm Talent Agency, where the head of the Theater Literary Department is Jack Tantleff.

Co-represented by Michael Garrett at Global Artists, Connor’s reimagined staging of “Les Miserables” brought the musical back to Broadway for a profitable run that opened in 2014 and ended earlier this month. His new production of “Miss Saigon,” another musical by the “Les Miz” duo of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, hits Broadway in March following a successful London bow.

Connor also has worked regularly with Andrew Lloyd Webber, whose latest, “School of Rock,” was directed by Connor for a Broadway premiere last season and will soon open in London, where Connor again directs. His new staging of Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of Opera” toured the U.S., and he also directed an arena tour of the composer’s “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

He’s also staged anniversary concerts for both “Phantom” (at Royal Albert Hall) and “Les Miserables” (at London’s 02) venue.

“Miss Saigon” begins previews at the Broadway Theater March 1 for a limited run currently set to end in January, prior to a North American tour.
