Brooke Shields' 5 Siblings: All About Her Sisters and Brother
Brooke Shields has four sisters, Marina, Olympia, Cristiana and Diana, and one brother, Thomas
Brooke Shields may have been in the spotlight since she was 11 months old, but her five siblings mostly reside out of the public eye.
Born on May 31, 1965, the actress was the only child her parents, Teri Shields and Frank Shields Jr., had together. The one-time Lord & Taylor makeup artist and the New York City businessman wed in 1964 and divorced only five months after Brooke was born.
Frank went on to welcome three more daughters — Marina Shields Purcell, Olympia Bishop and Cristiana Shields — with his second wife, Diana "Didi" Lippert, whom he married in 1970. He was also a stepfather to Didi's two older children, Diana Cunningham and Thomas Auchincloss Jr.

Despite eventually becoming a part of a large family, Brooke told The Sydney Morning Herald in 2023 that she viewed herself as the only child of a single mother when she was younger. Teri was her primary guardian as well as her manager.
In her 2005 memoir, Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression, Brooke described how “desperately” she wanted a sibling and how her blended family eventually granted that wish.
“My mother never did adopt a child, but my father remarried,” she wrote. “Because my stepmother already had two children from a previous marriage, I had instant siblings. Then, luckily for me, my dad and stepmother added three wonderful daughters to the family. As a result, I was able to maintain a privileged, only-child status with my mom while enjoying being a part of a larger family with my dad.”
Here is everything to know about Brooke Shields' siblings, Marina, Olympia, Cristiana, Diana and Thomas.
They were raised in Long Island and Palm Beach
Frank hailed from a prominent N.Y.C. family — his father was a top-ranking tennis player and actor — so his children grew up close by in Long Island, New York. In 1989, Frank opened his own real estate firm in Palm Beach, Florida, and the family relocated there.
While Brooke was a young adult and a huge star at this point, she still spent time with her extended family in Florida. She even exchanged vows with her husband, Chris Henchy, there in 2001.

Brooke isn't the only sibling with a sweet spot for Palm Beach, either. Although Olympia worked as an educator in N.Y.C. for many years, she relocated back to the Florida town in 2015 to teach at her former middle school.
Cristiana and Marina have worked in the jewelry industry
In 1993, Cristiana launched a one-of-a-kind jewelry business — according to her company's website, she designs each piece by hand. The entrepreneur told The Palm Beach Post in 2012 that she named the business after her late father, who died in 2003.
“He was such a tall, dark and handsome, funny guy, charming and larger than life," Cristiana said. "He was someone everyone went to for advice. They knew he’d be straight up."
Marina also dabbled in the jewelry business. According to a 2015 interview on Alexandra Knight's blog, she worked for the fine jeweler Verdura before moving on to jobs at Harvard Business School, The Wedding List and American Express.
At the time of the interview, Marina lived in New York with her husband, Thomas Purcell, and their two children, but she said she often missed her childhood home in Palm Beach.
"Bougainvillea and night blooming jasmine always remind me of my home: Palm Beach," Marina said. "I even had my walls handpainted with palms and sea grape leaves so I could be surrounded by them."
Marina and her husband met during her freshman year at Georgetown University. The couple run a foundation that has given $500,000 to the university as of 2020, per the Georgetown Voice.
Olympia didn't realize Brooke was famous
Growing up with an ultra-famous sibling like Brooke may seem daunting, but for Olympia, it was just life as usual. She recalled to Palm Beach Illustrated in 2018 that when she was a child, she was too young to realize that her older sister — whom she affectionately calls "Brookie" — was a celebrity.
"Everybody is somebody down here," she told the magazine. "So people are modest and don’t make a big deal of it."
Diana is an interior designer
Diana is a project manager for the McCann Design Group, an interior design firm based in Palm Beach. According to the company's website, she graduated from Skidmore College and worked for some notable interior designers in N.Y.C. before relocating back to her hometown.
Diana also appeared in two episodes of Brooke's documentary series Pretty Baby in 2023.
Cristiana said she was the "quiet one" of the family
The Shields household was pretty full — and, according to Cristiana, pretty loud. She told The Palm Beach Post in 2012 that her siblings were "always talking" and that she didn't say anything until she was 5 or 6 years old.
Despite that initial silence and a 10-year age gap, Cristiana said that she and Brooke have remained close. "We look so much alike and we have the same sense of humor," she said. "But she has a husband and a family. I’m single and I have a dog.”
Diana and Thomas are related to the Kennedys by marriage
Brooke's siblings Diana and Thomas are related to the Kennedy family by marriage. According to Jackie Kennedy's obituary in The New York Times, Diana and Thomas' grandfather, Hugh D. Auchincloss, married Jackie's mother, Janet Lee Bouvier, in 1942.
Decades later, the Shields and Kennedy families almost merged again. Brooke revealed on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show in April 2023 that she had been "madly in love" with John F. Kennedy Jr. since she was 3 years old. As adults, they actually went on a date, and Brooke shared that they had "the best kiss I've ever had in her life."
Diana helped Brooke say goodbye to her father
In Down Came the Rain, Brooke wrote about how Diana helped her say goodbye to her father before his death — even though she was on the other side of the country. Brooke had just given birth to her first daughter, Rowan, and was in Los Angeles when she got a call.
"It was Diana, my stepsister, instructing me to tell my father whatever I wanted or needed to, because the end was near," she wrote in an excerpt shared on a post-partum depression support website. "I told him I had always felt lucky he was my father ... he couldn’t respond, but my younger sister, Cristiana, said he wiggled his toes. Three hours later, with the entire family around him (except me), my dad left this earth."
