Bruce Springsteen arrested for DWI in November
Bruce Springsteen was arrested in a drunken driving incident three months ago.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the National Parks Service confirmed to Yahoo Entertainment that the singer was arrested at the Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, N.J. on Nov. 14. He received three citations: DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area.
“Springsteen was cooperative throughout the process,” the spokesperson said of the 71-year-old Jersey native.
A rep for Springsteen has not yet responded to request for comment.
On Sunday, Springsteen was featured in his first Super Bowl ad ever — for Jeep. Following the news of his arrest, the company removed his Super Bowl ad from its YouTube page. (The page now reads “Video unavailable. This video is private.”)
“It would be inappropriate for us to comment on the details of a matter we have only read about and we cannot substantiate,” Jeep told Variety in a statement. “But it’s also right that we pause our Big Game commercial until the actual facts can be established. Its message of community and unity is as relevant as ever. As is the message that drinking and driving can never be condoned.”
In the spot titled “The Middle,” Springsteen called for unity and hope across America. The ad is still available on his personal Instagram account.
