BTS Member Jin Confirmed To Be Part Of The 2024 Paris Olympics
BTS, the popular South Korean boy band, will have a connection to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
One of its band members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—will participate in the 2024 Olympic Torch Relay later this month, and their ARMY fan base cannot wait.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay
The Olympic Torch Relay is a tradition that brings the world right back to the heart of the Games.
"The Torch Relay for the Paris 2024 Olympics began in April in Olympia, Greece, and is currently traveling through 65 territories all across France until the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games [on July 26]," according to a press release obtained by People Magazine. "While the specific schedule is yet to be disclosed, Jin, along with the other torchbearers, are scheduled to go across various historic sites of the host country."
According to the official Olympic website, 11,000 torchbearers were chosen for the 2024 Games "based on their commitment, dedication and how they embody at least one of the core tenets of Paris 2024."
One of those torchbearers? Jin from the K-Pop band, BTS.
Which BTS Member Will Make An Appearance At The 2024 Olympics?
HYBE—the agency representing BTS—confirmed that the 31-year-old singer Jin "will participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay as a torchbearer from South Korea."
"Jin will take part in the Olympic Torch Relay to spread the message of ‘harmony’ and ‘peace,'" the press release stated, per People.
The Olympic and Paralympic torches "will soon be able to make their way around France thanks to the Forerunners, who will help make the longstanding dream of Paris 2024 a reality, 100 years after the Olympic Summer Games were last held in France," the official Olympics website stated. "The torchbearers will be the faces of the Forerunner Relays; with their energy, they will be ramping up the atmosphere in local communities, helping France get in the mood to celebrate the Games."
What Are The Torchbearers?
In the past, many famous stars participated in the Torch Relay, including Michel Platini (Albertville 1992), Antonio Rebollo (Barcelona 1992), Muhammad Ali (Atlanta 1996), Cathy Freeman (Sydney 2000), and David Beckham (London 2012).
According to the official website, the torchbearers will embody the incredible diversity of our society: women and men, national and local leaders, and citizens chosen from the public, including individuals with disabilities.
The criteria for selecting torchbearers will be consistent across both the Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will kick off on July 26 and end on August 11. Olympic legends like Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky, Noah Lyles, and LeBron James are set to take part in the action in Paris, but rising stars from over 30 sports will also get their opportunity to shine on the Olympic stage, including 16-year-old newcomer Hezly Rivera.
Rivera joins Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey as part of Team USA for Women's Gymnastics.
“Yeah, it feels so surreal,” Rivera told NBC’s “TODAY” show. “I cannot believe that I’m here right now. It’s just all my hard work has been paying off. I’m so excited to represent Team USA at the Olympics.”
“I’m so grateful to be here and to be called to the Olympic team, this has been my dream ever since I was 8,” she added.
Suni Lee Talks 2024 Olympics
Suni Lee's journey to return to the Olympics was difficult. She battled two unspecified kidney diseases, which forced her to take a break.
"It was just such a hard, incredible journey," she told NBC's Hoda Kotb of the health battles she faced. "There were so many times where I thought about quitting and just giving up because I was so sick and it was just so hard to stay motivated, watching everyone get better and I can’t even get back in the gym, and constantly like self-doubting myself. But once I had those people around me who lifted me up and supported me, I knew this was something that I wanted."
Looking to the future, Lee expressed, “I’m like, ‘I’m way better already than I was at the last Olympics.’ And I didn’t even think that I could get better than that. So that gives me a little more comfort and knowing that anything that I put my mind to, I can accomplish.”
The 2024 Paris Olympics kick off on July 26.
