Suga is apologizing after getting his license suspended and fined for riding an electric scooter while intoxicated.

The BTS member, 31, shared in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday, Aug. 7 that he drank some alcohol while out to dinner on Tuesday night and then “went home on an electric scooter” — violating “traffic laws” in South Korea.

“Because I had been drinking, I did not realize that using an electric scooter after drinking was against the law, and violated the road traffic laws,” he wrote, adding that he was “heavy hearted” and “sorry” after the incident.

The singer said that he “fell” in front of his home “while trying to park the electric scooter” and a nearby police officer performed a “breathalyzer test” on him before he “suspended my license and a fine was imposed.”

“There were no other persons or establishments damaged during that time, but it is my responsibility to bow my head and apologize (to you) with no excuses,” Suga wrote.

“I’d like to apologize for my negligence and wrong behavior to all those whose my actions have hurt, and will be careful with my actions to make sure that things like this do not happen again,” he concluded his statement.

According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, an officer found Suga lying on the ground after falling off his electric scooter in the Yongsan district in Seoul. The officer gave him a breathalyzer test, which revealed that his blood alcohol levels were above 0.08 percent, the legal limit, per the outlet.

Suga was booked into the Yongsan Police Station on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act and was questioned by police officers before being released, the outlet reported.

BigHit Entertainment, BTS’ record label also issued a statement following the incident on their website, writing that they “apologize for BTS member Suga's electric kickboard accident.”

“We apologize for the disappointment caused by the artist’s inappropriate behavior,” they continued. “As a social service agent during his military service, he is prepared to accept any disciplinary actions from his place of work for causing a social disturbance.”

“We will take greater care to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future,” BigHit Entertainment added.

Suga is currently carrying out his mandatory military service after postponing his enlistment due to touring. However, unlike the other members of BTS, he has been working as a social service agent, which is an alternative form of military service, per The New York Times. His service is expected to be completed next June, per the outlet.
