BTS’ RM’s ‘Right People, Wrong Place’ Doc Screens At Busan; “Allows Audience To Experience Album Journey Together” Says Director
The creative team behind BTS’ RM’s RM: Right People, Wrong Place introduced the documentary onstage before its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), with RM absent due to military service commitments.
“I remember when I first met RM, he shared with me a Korean phrase which translates to ‘every meeting must part, and every parting leads to another meeting,'” said Lee Seok-jun, the film’s director. “RM was saying that every encounter leads to a farewell but every farewell also leads to new encounters.”

Members of the documentary’s creative team including San Yawn, Im Subin, Jang Sehoon and JNKYRD joined director Lee onstage in front of a rapturous audience on a rainy day to introduce the film at the Busan Cinema Center’s 4,000-seater BIFF Theater.
“This documentary captures the journey of RM as he worked on the Right Place, Wrong Person album and honestly portrays his personal emotions and doubts,” Lee said. “He showcases the collaborative process with various artists and creators, allowing audiences to experience the journey of making the album together.”
RM: Right People, Wrong Place follows the recording of RM’s second album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” which was released in May this year.
Lee also produced BTS bandmate J-hope’s music videos “Arson” and “MORE.”
RM, also known as Kim Nam-joon, is the leader of BTS and enlisted for mandatory military service in December 2023. He is expected to complete his service in June 2025.
Lee said: “This film was made in nine months, which can be a short time but actually it took me a long time, as it delves into RM’s deep inner self. At the same time, it expresses the emotions that many people may have experienced at least once in their lives.”
RM: Right People, Wrong Place was officially invited to BIFF’s “Open Cinema” section and will have its global theatrical release later this year. CJ 4DPLEX announced the screening and the theatrical release alongside BTS’s label HYBE, which produced the film.
“After watching the film, I hope you enjoy something interesting with your friends and have wonderful conversations with those around you,” Lee added.
