‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Teaser: Anthony Mackie Takes Flight As Red Hulk Makes An Appearance
Anthony Mackie takes flight in the first trailer for Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World, the fourth installment of the Cap’s franchise and the first since Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers bid adieu to the superhero life in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
In the new teaser, Mackie’s Sam Wilson, previously known as The Falcon, is recruited by newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford, replacing William Hurt, in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut) to officially fill the Captain vacancy and become a U.S. agent to boot.
More from Deadline
The Captain wastes little time before stopping a would-be assassin at the White House. And then things get busy. The lightning-fast clip ends with a literal roar and a quick look at the new character Red Hulk throwing Captain America’s shield to the ground as if it were a toy. It’s not clear from the trailer, but in the comics Red Hulk is an alter ego of Thunderbolt Ross. (Imagine Harrison Ford transforming into a giant, 1000-pound red monster.)
Mackie’s The Falcon had officially taken on the mantle of Captain America in the finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on Disney+ in 2021.
In addition to Mackie and Ford, Captain America: Brave New World stars Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore and Carl Lumbly, with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson. The film is directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers.
Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World opens in U.S. theaters on February 14, 2025.
Marvel also released the movie’s new poster which, since it includes a giant red hand, teases the Red Hulk’s prominence in the film:
