Caroline Vidmar’s ‘Survivor 47’ exit interview: ‘I’m grateful beyond belief’
On Wednesday’s 12th episode of “Survivor 47,” the new “Underdogs” alliance fully collapsed just one week after it was created. After going on an overnight food reward with challenge winner Sam Phalen and Genevieve Mushaluk, Andy Rueda decided to flip on the four girls back at camp, and Caroline Vidmar became cannon fodder for “Operation: Italy.” Read on for Caroline’s “Survivor 47” exit interview from the end of the episode.
“I have been thinking about this situation, I’ve been analyzing it, and Andy flipped,” the 27-year-old strategy consultant from Chicago correctly surmised after being voted out of the game. “He took me out, and I’ll be honest: I think it was smart. I think I would have won at the end.”

Andy’s plan, which he concocted at the Survivor Sanctuary while feasting on Italian foods like pizza, pasta, salad, wine, soda, and tiramisu, was to make the “Underdog” girls split their four votes between Sam or Genevieve. The latter even created a fake idol using Sam’s expired idol parts from the pre-merge. In this vote-split situation, Andy, Sam and Genevieve would only need a plurality of three votes to send someone home. It worked flawlessly.

Caroline continued on, “But most importantly, I’m grateful beyond belief that I’ve made it this far and I’ve made it to the final seven. I feel like I didn’t win the ultimate prize, but I was able to live my dream.” The original target of “Operation: Italy” was Rachel LaMont, but after she won her second consecutive immunity necklace, Andy, Sam and Genevieve had to pivot to Caroline.
Interestingly enough, Caroline’s bestie Sue Smey suggested she might use her hidden immunity idol to save Caroline. But in the end, she didn’t have a strong enough “gut feeling” to play it. Caroline ended up being booted by a 3-2-2 vote over Sam and Genevieve. Sue’s idol will expire at the final five, as will Rachel’s idol. Rachel also has a Block A Vote advantage that will expire at the top six.
Caroline is now the 12th person eliminated from “Survivor 47” and the fifth member of the jury, joining Sierra Wright, Solomon “Sol” Yi, Gabe Ortis, and Kyle Ostwald. The players booted from the game pre-jury were Jon Lovett, Terran “TK” Foster, Aysha Welch, Kishan Patel, Anika Dhar, Rome Cooney, and Tiyana Hallums.
