Carrie Underwood Donates $10,000 to Help Childhood Friend, Oklahoma Police Officer Pay Medical Bills
Carrie Underwood is doing what she can to help an old friend, an Oklahoma police officer who is suffering from severe injuries. The singer donated $10,000 to Checotah Assistant Police Chief Justin Durrett, who is currently in the ICU after a rollover crash on February 11.

The donation was made to the GoFundMe page on February 17 under the name Carrie Fisher, using the last name of her husband, hockey player Mike Fisher. According to the fundraiser, Durrett is battling a broken neck, bruised spine, numbness from the neck down and gashes on his head. He has two children, “who are suffering daddy not being able to walk or talk to them.” Durrett and Underwood have known each other since childhood, growing up in the church together.
The GoFundMe page has more than $14,000 of its $20,000 goal, as of Tuesday (Feb. 20).
