We all need someone to believe in ... and for a generation, that someone was Christopher Lloyd.

The beloved actor helped lead a cast including Danny Glover, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Matthew McConaughey through 1994's Angels in the Outfield, a remake of the 1951 classic that follows a boy who prays for his team — and is answered by angels.

Though reviews were mixed (PEOPLE's critic wrote that "it could have used all the help it could get") the movie made $50 million at the box office and lifted the stars of some of its younger cast members.

As the film turns 30 — and finally starts streaming, now on Disney+ — catch up with the cast of Angels in the Outfield, then and now.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was already a busy child actor — appearing on Dark Shadows, The Powers That Be and Roseanne — by the time he joined the cast of Angels in the Outfield as young fan Roger, a child in the foster system whose prayers for his team's improvement are answered by a group of helpful angels only he can see and hear.

From there, he cemented his teen star status on 3rd Rock from the Sun and movie favorites like 10 Things I Hate About You, and continued to steal our hearts in other film appearances, most notably the indie hit (500) Days of Summer. He also appeared in Christopher Nolan's Inception and The Dark Knight Rises before starring in his own directorial debut, Don Jon.

Most recently, the Emmy-winning actor starred opposite Eddie Murphy in Netflix's 2024 comedy action sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
