CBS Orders ‘Evil’ Supernatural Drama Pilot From Robert & Michelle King
CBS has kicked off its pilot season orders with a nod to a project from two of its top drama creators, The Good Wife‘s Robert and Michelle King. The network has picked up to pilot the Kings’ religion-themed supernatural drama Evil. It hails from CBS TV Studios, where the duo and their King Size Productions are under an overall deal.
Written and executive produced by Robert and Michelle King, Evil is a series about the battle between science and religion. It focuses on a skeptical female clinical psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a blue-collar contractor as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there’s a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.
The Kings executive produce with Liz Glotzer, president of King Size Prods.
Evil, which falls under the new overall deal the Kings inked with CBS TV Studios last fall, marks the duo’s return to CBS where they created and executive produced the popular and critically praised legal drama The Good Wife as well as quirky summer series BrainDead, which starred Mary Elizabeth Winstead. They also are developing Girls with Guns, produced by CBS Studios and Scott Free Productions, at CBS All Access.
Following The Good Wife‘s seven-season run on CBS, the Kings, who have been at CBS TV Studios since 2009, co-created and are executive producing spinoff The Good Fight, which launched CBS All Access’ original scripted slate and is headed into a third season. The duo also has upcoming Showtime drama series Drama Your Honor, which they are executive producing alongside writer Peter Moffat.
The Kings, who have been creative collaborators for 20 years and married for over 30 years, previously created the 2006 ABC drama series In Justice, starring Kyle MacLachlan and Jason O’Mara.
