CBS Shakes Up Its Fall 2024-2025 Schedule
Tom Selleck
As CBS is wrapping up the 2023-24 season as “America’s Most-Watched Network” in primetime for the 16th consecutive season in total viewers—breaking broadcast television’s longest winning streak on record, also previously held by CBS, from 1955-1970, it today announced its plans for the 2024-2025 season.
CBS became the first broadcast network to reveal its Fall TV schedule with a look at its returning shows, what’s new, and what’s ending.
With the majority of its schedule renewed—18 series, the Eye Network only added six new series to its schedule and one reimagined classic game show. The scripted shows include Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, the spinoff of Young Sheldon; Matlock, a gender swap version of the old Andy Griffith-starrer; NCIS: Origins, which takes viewers back to the beginning of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibb’s time as an NCIS special agent; the comedy Poppa’s House, starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr.; and Watson, a modern spin on the classic Sherlock Holmes story, which will focus on solving medical mysteries rather than murders.
Unscripted shows include The Summit, in which 16 strangers journey through the treacherous New Zealand Alps to win $1 million, and the reboot of Hollywood Squares, with Drew Barrymore taking over the center square.
Of those shows, Watson and Hollywood Squares are being held for midseason as is the return of NCIS: Sydney and The Amazing Race. Hollywood Squares will join The Price Is Right at Night and Raid the Cage for an all-new "Game Show Wednesdays," which looks to take the place of Survivor in January with Survivor returning later mid-season.
In addition to CBS’ new and returning series, the year-round schedule of original programming also features annual high-profile events, including the return of the Grammy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, the Tony Awards, the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors, New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash and the recently announced American Music Awards.

REALITY TV
THE SUMMIT
Hosted by Manu Bennett, The Summit follows 16 strangers embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime journey through the treacherous New Zealand Alps in an attempt to reach the peak of a distant, towering mountain. With their backpacks containing an equal share of $1 million, the group must traverse an exhausting distance in just 14 days in order to win the cash they are carrying. But not everyone will make it, as these strangers must work together to tackle the dangerous terrain, unforgiving Antarctic winds, heart-pounding challenges and gut-wrenching eliminations on their way to the peak. Tracking them along this journey is the “Mountain’s Keeper” who will surprise the trekkers with brutal twists and force decisions that complicate an already grueling ascent. Morals and relationships will be tested when they must decide what to do if someone falls behind – because if the group fails to reach The Summit in time, all the prize money will be lost.
MIDSEASON
DRAMA
WATSON
In Watson, a year after the death of his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty, Dr. John Watson (Morris Chestnut) resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century. Watson is a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.
Unscripted
Hollywood Squares
Hollywood Squares is a classic game show in which two contestants play tic-tac-toe to win money and prizes. The “board” for the game is a vertical stack of open-faced cubes, each occupied by a celebrity seated at a desk and facing the contestants. The celebrities are asked questions and the contestants judge the legitimacy of their answers to win the game. Award-winning actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore will take her place as the famed “center square” answering questions for the contestants.
