Cedar Rapids-based Donutland plots Urbandale location for filled long johns, jelly doughnuts
Cedar Rapids-based doughnut chain Donutland is making its way back to the Des Moines metro.
Donutland, which came under new ownership in September 2018, scored a doughnut hole in one at a newly built location at the corner of Plum Drive and N.W. 100th Street at 4820 100th St. in Urbandale near Kwik Star, right off the interstate.
Donutland management said they hope to open around the end of June. The brand once boasted locations across the Midwest. Now Cedar Rapids, the home to the Iowa chain that originally opened in 1971, offers two locations in the City of Five Seasons and one in Iowa City.

The iconic Iowa brand is known for its 40 different types of doughnuts, including long johns, filled long johns, and jelly-filled bismarcks as well as coffee options.
The chain's location will feature a drive-thru lane, which sets it apart from other Donutland stops across the state. Classy Nail Spa, which also has a location in Ankeny, will also open in the building.
