Celebrities Accused of Being Rude to Restaurant Servers Staff
With everything on the internet, you have to take things with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to encounters with celebrities. Listen, we’re not excusing consistently bad behavior, but it is important to note that celebrities are humans, and humans have bad days. Sometimes, you might say something a bit rude and instantly regret it, and we’re sure celebrities probably feel that same thing, too. However, we’re taking a deep dive into the first-hand accounts of people who not only met certain celebrities but served them in a restaurant. So not only could this be a glimpse into who the celebrity is behind closed doors, but how they treat service industry workers.
Truly, every service industry worker deserves a big hug and nothing but the most polite of service. They’re doing the best they can, and while many people and celebrities understand that, there are reportedly quite a few bad apples.
From stiffing people on the tip to just rude behavior that inconveniences people, these celebrities have been called out on TikTok, Buzzfeed, and more for their problematic behavior towards service industry workers.

Meghan Markle
Ma?tre d’ at NYC’s Le Coucou Michael Cecchi-Azzolina wrote in his book Your Table is Ready: Tales of a New York City Ma?tre D’ that Meghan Markle wasn’t exactly a nice guest, or rather her assistant wasn’t.

She’d look at the server as though he’d just served her rat.”
Zachary Quinto
Zachary Quinto recently made news for his allegedly concerning behavior at a Mediterranean restaurant in Toronto called Manita. He was accused of being belligerent to the staff, yelling so much that it brought the host to tears and freaking out other customers.
The restaurant shared what happened to their Instagram story via Page Six.
“Zachary Quinto – an amazing Spock, but a terrible customer,” it read. “Yelled at staff like an entitled child after he didn’t reply to two texts to inform him his table was ready and refused to believe the empty tables in the dining room weren’t available for him despite being politely informed they were spoken for.”
They added, “Made our host cry and the rest of our brunch diners uncomfortable. Mr. Quinto, take your bad vibes somewhere else, we have many lovely celebrities join us at Manita, but you are NOT one of them.”
Brittany Mahomes
TikToker Jessica O’Connor alleged that Brittany Mahomes was “unpleasant” and didn’t tip any of the servers. O’Connor worked as a “server, barista, bartender” when Mahomes came into the hotel she was working at with her posse, sans Patrick Mahomes.
“My first interaction with her, she ran up over a $100 tab. She was with her whole posse — Patrick was not there — but I believe their tab was well over $100, maybe $130,” she recalled. “$0 tip.”
She said she let it slide at first because she thought maybe she did something wrong to garner no tip, so she accepted it. “But they were there for almost a week I think. And did not tip a single one of our staff. Not only did she not tip, she was just genuinely unpleasant,” she added, with many others telling their unpleasant stories as well.

Joel McHale

In the viral video from @juliacarolann, she called out Hailey Bieber for her rude behavior, saying, “This is gonna be controversial. I’ve met her a handful of times and she was not nice. I really want to like her but I give her, like, a 3.5 out of 10. Sorry.”
Bieber actually responded to the video, saying, “Just came across this video, and wanted to say so sorry if I’ve ever given you bad vibes or a bad attitude. That’s not ever my intention! Hate hearing that was your experience with me but glad you called me out so I can do better!! hopefully we meet again so I can apologize in person.”
Kendall Jenner

Laura Dern
In a post by Buzzfeed where they let servers discuss their terrible experiences with stars, one revealed they had a bad time serving Laura Dern. “Laura Dern was kinda entitled and not a great tipper. She left a $9 tip on a $371 meal, so it actually cost several dollars to wait on her.”

She just seemed to not want me to exist that day. I’m not sure what happened to her before she came in but it was very uncomfortable. 1/10.”
Darren Criss
Annie Bond also called out Darren Criss’s behavior, per DailyMail, saying, “Darren Criss is the guy who comes to the restaurant who doesn’t understand that there is one server per table,’ she said. ‘He’s the guy who flags down everybody he sees, even though he just asked somebody for the thing that he needs.”
She added, “He wasn’t my table, I was working in a similar section, so I got flagged down a lot by this guy, and I don’t like those kinds of people.” She then rated him a 3/10.
James Cordon
In case you need a reminder, James Corden was dubbed the “most abusive customer” ever by the owner of NYC restaurant Balthazar, Keith McNally. Per People, she said: “James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago. I don’t often 86 a customer, to today I 86’d Corden. It did not make me laugh.”
