Opening Up About Her Death:
“I’m pretty sure that you heard the news about my mom passing away early this morning. But I’m doing okay," she insured fans. “My mom was 92. She was ill for quite a while. And we knew she wouldn’t be with us long,” Celine Dion continued as fans cheered her on. “Two days ago, we got a call from the nurses who were taking care of her so well, saying that her time was coming soon. Very soon."
Her Last Night With Mom:
The "My Heart Will Go On" singer then revealed she immediately jumped on a plane and raced home to be with her mom. "So last night, I joined my brothers and sisters in Montreal and I spent the evening at her bedside," she said. Reminiscing about her final hours with her mother, Celine Dion stated, “We told stories. We sang songs. We hugged each other. And we said our goodbyes," and added, “We are pretty sure that mom waited for us to be all together before [she passed].”
The Show Must Go On:
Hours before the show, Celine Dion posted about her mom's death on social media and made sure to let concertgoers know that the show would go on later that night. Sharing a black and white photo, the star captioned the post, “Maman, we love you so much… We dedicate tonight’s show to you and I’ll sing to you with all my heart. Love, Céline." The Grammy-winning singer's father passed away at 80 in 2003. Celine Dion lost her husband, René Angélil, and brother just days apart in 2016.
