Dion took a moment during her Miami concert to address her mother's passing and pay tribute to her.
“I’m pretty sure that you heard the news about my mom passing away early this morning,” Celine announced to her concert audience, “But I’m doing okay.”
Celine went on to bravely share the moment that she and her family had found out that her mother would be passing away.
“My mom was 92. She was ill for quite a while. And we knew she wouldn’t be with us long,” she continued.
"Two days ago, we got a call from the nurses who were taking care of her so well, saying that her time was coming soon. Very soon. So last night, I joined my brothers and sisters in Montreal and I spent the evening at her bedside,” Celine explained.
“We told stories. We sang songs. We hugged each other. And we said our goodbyes,” Celine described. “We are pretty sure that mom waited for us to be all together before [she passed].”
“Maman, we love you so much… We dedicate tonight’s show to you and I’ll sing to you with all my heart. Love, Céline,” she said and went on to perform the concert in her mother's honor.
Celine also made an Instagram post honoring her late mother earlier that morning. She posted an old family picture along with a French tribute proceeded by the following English translation, "Maman, we love you so much…We dedicate tonight’s show to you and I’ll sing to you with all my heart. Love, Céline xx… ."
The date of her mother's passing came exactly four years after her brother's untimely death. Celine's late husband and manager, René Angélil, also passed away just days before brother. Celine posted a tribute for René Angélil on the anniversary of his passing.
"There is not a day that goes by without me thinking about your beautiful smile. We miss you, thank you for watching over us my love. I love you. Céline xx…," the English translation of the French caption read.
