Challengers Confirms New Release Date on Prime Video
It’s taken a while, but Challengers is soon coming to Prime Video.
The steamy tennis drama, which stars Zendaya in a love triangle, hits Prime Video later this month. Considering it was theatrically released by Amazon MGM Studios, it’s taken a while to arrive on the company’s platform - six months after its March 26, 2024 release, in fact.
You won’t have long to wait now, however. The Challengers release date has been set for September 19, which is roughly one week away. If you’ve been holding out for the digital version of director Luca Guadagnino’s acclaimed film, the time is coming soon. Meanwhile the Challengers Blu-Ray release riles up fans.
The plot revolves around an injured tennis star turned coach (Zendaya), who has a complicated relationship with her mid-level tennis player ex-boyfriend (Josh O'Connor), and tennis champion husband (Mike Faist). Exploring over a decade of their messy business, everything comes to a head with a match between the two at the ATP Challenger Tour.
The film has an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising the performances from the core trio, frenetic editing, and memorable score by former Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor.
