Charli XCX claims no bad blood with Taylor Swift after comparing Swifties to '5-year-olds'
Taylor Swift's fans have a new entertainer in their crosshairs.
Charli XCX caught the wrath of Swifties worldwide after comparing the massive fan base to "5-year-olds" during an interview with Pitchfork published Tuesday.
"I’m really grateful that (Taylor) asked me on that tour," said Charli, who served as an opener on Swift's 2018 Reputation Tour with Camila Cabello. "But as an artist, it kind of felt like I was getting up onstage and waving to 5-year-olds."
The "Boom Clap" singer, 27, walked back her statements on Twitter following the backlash, writing, "people on the Internet have taken something I said out of context."

Swifties slammed Charli's initial remarks, going so far as to declare that, "charli is over."
"Someone send charli xcx back to 1999 bc she’s no longer needed," one Twitter user wrote, while another tweeted: "i hope @charli_xcx enjoyed her 13 seconds of fame."
One concertgoer added, "Charli xcx opening for taylor swift will probably be the peak of her career and she has the audacity to say 'im singing for five year olds' she acts like her performance was good i was bored as (expletive) counting down the minutes until taylor came out."

Charli clarified the "weird sentence" that sparked controversy was part of a wider conversation about her struggle to adjust to opening shows at 6 p.m. when she normally performed late-night gigs.
"Leading up to that tour I’d been playing a (ton) of 18+ club shows, and so to be onstage in front of all ages was new to me and made me approach my performances with a whole new kind of energy," she told Pitchfork.
The "Fancy" singer said that there is "absolutely no shade" or bad blood, "only love."
"Any tour I’ve been on with any other artist as an opening act has always taught me so much. It’s always wonderful to watch other artists do their thing, own their stage, and speak their language to their dedicated fan bases – and this was especially true for the Reputation Tour," she concluded, adding that it was fun to perform for a "new audience."
