Oversize leather bomber jackets were everywhere last fall, with celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski all taking the trend out for a spin. But, Chlo? Sevigny doesn't simply follow a trend—she makes new ones.

Take, for example, her latest red-carpet look at the Los Angeles premiere for her latest project, Netflix's Monsters. Instead of styling a bomber in the conventional way, she culled a one-of-a-kind Phoebe Philo piece, which redesigned the classic outerwear as a puffy minidress.

Made out of buttery, burgundy brown leather, the piece featured a turtleneck collar, large pockets across the chest, a zipper running down the center, and a row of loose ruffles below the waistline. Although the original styling of the jacket included pants, Sevigny eschewed bottoms altogether, simply opting for square-toe leather ballet flats.

For extra charm, she finished the look off with statement earrings: large circular silver pendants.

Sevigny opened up about her approach to style during a recent conversation with Harper's Bazaar, in which she reflected on the impact of her viral New York City closet sale in May 2023.

“I think everything that I had acquired, I had purchased and loved in my own way. It felt good. I’ve been holding on to these clothes for so long,” she said. “A lot of those things I sold were from the ’90s and early ’00s, and it was like this albatross, and I still have too much stuff. I’m just like, ‘Why do I always have so much stuff? Why do I always want to acquire new things to feel good, to go out, to feel hot, to feel whatever? Why do clothes have this power over me?’ And I still grapple with that every day. So trying to shed them and have less is something I’m always striving toward. … I’m happy for other people to enjoy those things and have them not just sitting in my storage space.”
