Chris Hemsworth and His Family Reunite With Classic 'Avengers' Prop
Chris Hemsworth has appeared in several iconic movies over the years from Star Trek to the recently released Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Many audiences, however, met him as Thor, the superhuman star of several Avengers and Thor movies inspired by the Norse god of thunder.
Part of Thor's character taken from Norse mythology is his powerful hammer Mj?lnir used to slay enemies who come his way. The metal weapon appeared Marvel movies featuring Hemsworth like Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Avengers: Endgame.
Hemsworth has been busy with other roles since his most recent Thor reprisal in 2022's Love and Thunder. In this period of semi-retirement, Mj?lnir has taken up residence behind a glass case at Universal Studios Hollywood. On June 3, Hemsworth shared a video from a recent visit with his kids where he showed them the famous hammer.
"Didn’t want to scare the kids but I could’ve definitely called Mj?lnir if I wanted to," he captioned the post. The hammer had his signature on it and he was seemingly perplexed when coming face to face with what was his trusty prop once upon a time. "Ask for it back if you need it," one of his friends urged as his kids fawned over it from behind the glass. "If you're really Thor, go get it."
After looking at the signed hammer for a moment and turning his head, Hemsworth quipped, "I don't remember signing that."
A fifth Thor film has yet to be confirmed, so Mj?lnir will be staying on display at Universal for now. He isn't letting up on the action roles, though. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is in theaters now, and fans can get into his next role as the voice of Optimus Prime in Transformers One starting Sept. 20.
