Chris Meloni Picks Up Piece of Hollywood History

“Law & Order” beau-hunk Chris Meloni and his interior designer wife, Sherman Williams, have made a completely under-the-radar, $5.25 million purchase of a well-known piece of Los Angeles estate with a long Hollywood history — so swears real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak on her beloved stack of perfectly preserved Gloria Vanderbilt dungarees.

In the 1950s and ’60s, the house was the real-life and television home of sitcom stars Ozzie and Harriet Nelson. Later owners include music industry mover and shaker Ron Fair and movie producer Bo Zenga and, in the mid-2000s, the exterior was used as the home of “Entourage” character Ari Gold.

Listing details describe the freshly rehabbed, center hall residence as an “East Coast Traditional” with five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. There are formal living and dining rooms, plus a separate family room with an over-scaled tracery ceiling detail, French doors and a red brick fireplace. A cozy television lounge adjoins a professional cook-accommodating eat-in kitchen with double-wide center island, top-grade appliances and marble countertops.

Other homes on the short cul-de-sac that’s tucked in to the foothills just above Hollywood have a similar pedigreed past. One is often said to have been the home of Raymond Burr; and another, a grand Neoclassical edifice, was the residence of showbiz tycoon Samuel Goldwyn in the 1930s and purchased, per property records, in late 2012 by the fortunate son of an L.A.-based billionaire. Another property on the block was owned for a quick minute in the mid-aughts by the innovative musician Beck and, coincidentally enough, is currently for sale at $4.6 million.

Meloni and Williams still own a 3,000-square-foot apartment in Manhattan that’s been on and off the market since March 2012 at a variety of prices, from a high of $12 million down to $9.95 million; the family’s four-acre spread in bucolic New Canaan, Conn., was officially listed in June for $4.45 million, and is pending sale.

P.S. Your Mama also heard from the impeccably well-informed Lucy Spillerguts that the Meloni-Williams were recently the lessees of a 6,000-square-foot Spanish-style mini-compound in the flats of Beverly Hills that, as it turns out, is currently available for lease at $25,000 per month.
